Home Place Pastures, Como, MS
Home Place is committed to the ethical treatment of animals, the stewardship of the land, and the health of the community.
All of their animals are humanely raised on pasture. The meat they produce is slaughtered and processed on their farm. No exceptions.
The Bartlett family has farmed the Home Place for 150 years. The 5th generation starts the next chapter by running a vertically integrated, pasture based beef, pork, and lamb farm on their land east of Como, Mississippi.
They are committed to humanely raising livestock. What does this mean, besides a claim on a label? Their animals live their entire lives on pasture, uninhibited to express their natural behaviors. Their days are spent in small groups, rooting and grazing.
The Bartlett family has spent much time and consideration planning for the last days of their animals as well. They operate their own USDA inspected slaughter and processing facility on the farm. With much research, hard work, and design help from Dr. Temple Grandin, they built the facility so that their commitment to ethical treatment is never compromised.
